Castration anxiety (finding)
Castration anxiety
In psychoanalytic theory, a fear of damage to or loss of the genitals or their function. In Freudian formulations, it was classically described in boys during early psychosexual development as the fear of losing the penis, but in broader psychoanalytic usage it can apply to any individual, reflecting unconscious concerns about bodily integrity and sexual identity.
